Qi Gong (Chi Kung)
Qi Gong (Chi Kung) is a method of energy cultivation.
It is used for health, vitality, increasing longevity, athletic performance by allowing the free flow of Qi in the body. When the Qi flows freely in the body there is no pain. Where the Qi is stagnant we experience pain and dysfunction. Qi Gong is more or less a static exercise with meditative qualities. In meditation, the mind is stilled to reach a state of awareness. In Qi Gong, the mind is focused on directing energy, rather than thinking or not thinking. This is called Hsing Qi meaning where the mind goes, the energy follows. Although we can not see Qi, it does exist and by focusing on its movement and with gentle movement and specific postures we can help the body's Qi to flow more freely.
